PKR Makin Bercelaru Menjelang PRU 13

DAP Bakal Memimpin PR

Sukar Mencari Calon: Tanda-tanda Kekalahan Pembangkang

Railway film goes off track

RM9.2mil five-minute promo film over railway development raises ire.

EVERY year, the audit report delivered by China's National Audit Office exposes misappropriation of public funds by various government departments and agencies.

This year, one of its highlights was the extravagant 18.5mil yuan (RM9.2mil) promotional film that the Chinese Railway Ministry had spent on but had not achieved the desired results.

The ministry commissioned a Chinese production company to produce a film that reviewed the development of railway works in the country over the past few decades.

Rail controversy: A China Railway High-speed Harmony bullet train arriving at Xi'an North Railway Station. A promo film on the development of China's railway works has gone awry. — Reuters

The five-minute film was first shown at the opening of the 7th World Congress on High-Speed Rail in Beijing in 2010. The film has since been played over and over again on TV screens on board China's bullet trains.

What caught the public's attention even more was the fact that renowned award-winning Chinese director Zhang Yimou was linked to the film.

The film was credited to the director and this has caused a stir on the Internet with many people puzzled as to how Zhang could end up directing such a bad-taste film.

Some Netizens questioned whether it was worth it for the ministry to spend 3.7mil yuan (RM1.84mil) per minute for the film that did not have any big cast but just shots of speeding trains day and night.

They claimed that the film mainly comprised slow and fast motion pictures that could have been done using video equipment worth less than 40,000 yuan (RM19,890).

In comparison, the film The Flowers of the War which was directed by Zhang, featuring Oscar-winning actor Christian Bale, had a huge cast and a large number of explosion scenes and computer graphics shots. The production cost of the film was estimated around 4.1mil yuan (RM2mil) per minute, they said.

A Netizen "yun qi" said: "500,000 yuan (RM248,660) was spent on the promo film whereas another 18mil (RM8.9mil) had gone into the pockets of the railway ministry officials. Finally, I know why the ministry is always running at a loss and the train tickets were so expensive."

Another Netizen "huoshao bangzi" commented that the promo film scandal was a classic case of the "Chinese characteristics" where corruption was at its best.

"For a 500,000 yuan film, they only reported 18.5mil yuan. This was not that bad. Others might have just reported a cost of 185mil yuan (RM92mil) for the film!"

National Audit Office auditor general Liu Jiayi told the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (China's top legislative body) in its meeting on June 27 that the ministry did not follow the procedures for an open tender for the production between 2009 and 2010.

Oriental Morning Post columnist Shen Bin urged the relevant agencies to follow up with their investigations into the scandal and explain where the money went.

"The ministry used public funds to make the film. According to the Government Procurement Law, open tender is a prerequisite for any government project and only in emergency cases the procurement can be done based on a single price system.

"Other ministries have followed this rule but why not the railway boss?" he said.

He said when someone renovated his house he would have to list out the expenses on layout design and laying of pipes, cables and tiles; and so should the ministry for the film.

In its editorial, Guangming Daily said that the media had earlier highlighted other extravagant spending by the ministry for the bullet trains, citing the cost for a passenger seat and face washing basin was 22,000 yuan (RM10,968) and 72,400 yuan (RM36,100) respectively.

"Amid so much criticism from the public, what the ministry did was to tell the CSR Corporation Ltd (the maker of bullet trains) to respond on the matter.

"What is more unacceptable is that after such scandals surfaced, the ministry did not feel the obligation to explain properly what had happened," the newspaper said.

On Monday, Zhang's assistant Pang Liwei said the director was invited by a production company commissioned by the ministry to produce the film.

"Zhang refused to put his name on the film credit and the company agreed; but it turned out to be otherwise with the credit. He was not involved in any part of the shooting and only made some suggestions during pre-production," she said.

On the high production cost, Pang said Zhang was paid according to what he charged for other advertising films and paid the taxes in full.

Two days later, a conference presided by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao told government departments, including the Railway Ministry singled out in the audit report, to rectify the problems and report the outcome to the State Council by the end of October.

The State Council said it would come out with a special report that would be handed over to the standing committee of the National People's Congress at the end of the year.

The audit report relates to the people's livelihood and anyone who delays or fails to address the problems will be punished, it said.

PANAS BERAPI! AKHIRNYA GAMBAR ASMARADANA GUAN ENG TERBONGKAR!

The rise of mega-churches

There are several mega-churches in Singapore with evangelical fund-raising zeal, posing potential problems for this multi-religious country.

THE city is abuzz with anticipation over the coming trial of leaders of the largest and richest charismatic church on charges of misuse of charity funds.

It is the result of two years of the biggest investigation of a religious institution.

Five leaders of the City Harvest Church (CHC) – including co-founder pastor Kong Hee who preached a form of money-generating prosperity gospel – were charged with criminal breach of trust.

Singapore is often stereotyped as a society that only worships money.

"Now, some pastors are cashing in on it being true," said a banker.

Over the past week, the case stirred up a hot public debate on and offline, with most supporting the court action.

Altogether eight leaders, including the arrested five, were suspended from charity duties, but the church itself was unaffected and allowed to carry on.

It could shape up into a judiciary benchmark of sorts because the new church leadership – with two pastors from abroad – and the majority of CHC followers have thrown their support behind their leaders.

A statement released by executive pastor Aries Zulkarnain said the church was standing by the five men.

"The people are our pastors and trusted staff and leaders who have always put God and CHC first," he said.

"As a church we stand with them and I believe fully in their integrity."

In two weekend services, 14,000 placard-carrying followers gave Kong Hee a standing ovation and a show of support.

Looking haggard, the pastor told his cheering supporters that there were two sides of the story and he would give his in court, adding: "I maintain my integrity."

The five were charged with misconduct and mismanagement of tax-free charity funds amounting to at least S$ 23mil (RM57.6mil).

According to an official report, the money was intended for use to finance the music career of the pastor's wife, Sun Ho, with the objective of winning more converts.

The case shows how vulnerable tiny Singapore is to foreign, especially Western, norms.

Many social trends from abroad end up in Singapore, including this form of money- raising religion.

City Harvest was co-founded by Kong Hee more than 20 years ago and now has about 24,000 followers, according to a Wikipedia report.

A father, who attended one of its early services with his daughter, said what he saw shocked him.

"There was a pop-style band playing deafening music – more like a rock concert than a church service.

"The congregation would dance trance-like and pop their tongues in and out in quick succession, like monitor lizards, making strange animal-like noises.

"The band music would be interspersed with instalments of a sermon, during which the pastor would cajole the congregation to donate generously, preaching that their donations would be rewarded – repaid exponentially by God.

"I saw the congregation members, mostly young men and women in their 20s and 30s, depositing cash into the donation box."

The ultra modern City Harvest uses bright flashing lights, loud music and modern stage technology to appeal to young Singaporeans who feel bored by the quiet sermons of traditional churches.

Most of its followers are in their mid-twenties. Pre-university and undergraduates are targeted for recruitment.

Videos of past sermons show charismatic preachers such as Kong Hee conduct services like a master performer at work raising funds.

Once, he took the microphone to thank recent contributors, who included a couple selling their five-room public flat to downgrade to a three-roomer and offered S$ 20,000 (RM50,091) of the proceeds to the church building fund.

Another was a young man who sold his motorcycle and donated the entire proceedings. With each name mentioned, the audience cheered.

It led a cynic to comment: "They have turned religion into show business, like America's TV evangelism."

Prosperity theology began in the USA decades ago. It claims that financial donations were needed as proof of faith and they would increase the giver's material wealth many times over.

In the 60s, some US mega-churches resorted to TV evangelism to reach its mass following, raking in large amounts of money.

There are several similar mega-churches here with evangelical fund-raising zeal, posing potential problems for this multi-religious country.

One is The New Creation Church, which plans to invest S$ 280mil (RM701mil) to build a mega-complex with a lifestyle-entertainment-cultural theme.

With some 22,000 members, the church raised eyebrows when it was reported that its charismatic preacher was paid a salary of S$ 500,000 (RM1.2mil).

The investigation into CHC came seven months after a top Buddhist monk, Venerable Shi Ming Yi, was convicted of misusing donated money and sentenced to nine months' imprisonment (reduced to six on appeal).

The 2009 trial of the English-educated, high-living Buddhist monk who owned three properties and loved luxury cars showed how far the money culture had spread in Singapore.

In his trial, the 48-year-old monk told the Court that "we live in a modern world ... no longer like what it was in the past".

When asked to elaborate, the monk said: "If people earn more, they will spend more. Many religious people, not just myself, are very different now."

Assessing the RM40bil Battersea project

WHEN news emerged that a Malaysian consortium led by SP Setia and included partners Sime Darby and the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) was slated to take over the troubled Battersea project on the banks of the Thames in London, it sent a tremor of excitement through property circles.

But it did cause at the same time some ripples of concern among shareholders of the two companies and investors too. They want to know how the project will be financed, how it will be undertaken, and what the inherent risks of the project are given its immense size, its chequered history and the fact that it is in a foreign country where none of the JV partners have particular expertise in property.

It is a major project after all, with the purchase price for the 39-acre site alone from the receivers and managers set at just under RM2bil. The estimated project development cost over the next two years is estimated at just short of RM1bil, to give a total initial outlay of RM3bil.

If this is done on a 50-50 ratio between debt and equity, the amount of equity investment in the first two years could be RM1.5bil. SP Setia and Sime Darby, owning 40% each of the JV shareholders, will have to come up with RM600mil each while EPF as a 20% partner needs to come up with RM300mil.

The development will be over 15 years and will have a gross development value of close to RM40bil. If one assumes a profit margin of 20% on the gross development value, then the capital costs to put up the project will be RM32bil or more than RM2bil a year over the next 15 years.

That is a huge recurring investment to make and it will be a particular strain on SP Setia, which is a much smaller company than Sime Daby. Sime Darby would be better placed to make the investment because of its size while the EPF with nearly RM500bil in funds will have no problem at all funding its investments.

Also, moving into such a large overseas project that potentially dwarfs both SP Setia's and Sime Darby's other projects raises the question of whether resources will be stretched too thin and will be at the expense of the existing projects of the two companies both in Malaysia and overseas.

Further concerns about the project is that of the Battersea site, the site of a defunct power station that has become one of the landmarks on the Thames south bank, which has passed through several hands. It ended up in the hands of receivers after the banks called in the loans of the previous investor.

To be fair, that does not necessarily mean that the project is inherently bad but was hampered instead by a lack of funding right now. Indeed, the JV envisages that the current plans will be adhered too, which means building and planning time will not be lengthened more than necessary.

The joint announcement by SP Setia and Sime Darby describe the site as "undoubtedly one of London's most important and central urban regeneration sites". That may be the case but to make it successful and profitable is another matter altogether.

This is a big, visible acquisition and a trophy project for the consortium. It needs serious work to make the trophy shine, look good and be worth the price paid.

SP Setia and Sime Darby have a good name and reputation. But still one must expect that the deal will be scrutinised and watched very closely, not just by Malaysians but by Londoners and the property world.

They will be looking to see what kind of value the Malaysian consortium can add to the project, how quickly they can obtain all approvals, how well they can execute the construction and building plans and how well they can market the properties.

That in the end will determine how successful they will be. Part of the success plan is to do the right things and show that the right things are being done at every turn and phase to inspire confidence in the project from property investors and thereby inspire confidence in their own shareholders, members and other investors.

That's not an easy task and given the scale of the project, one could even call it gargantuan – but not impossible.

The Significance of Attahiyat in the Solat by Haji Zainol Abideen

Dear Muslims,

Have you ever wondered about the sayings in the Attahiyat Awal and Attahiyat Akhir that we have to recite during our Solat?

I have been studying about this matter for quite some time and I reflect back to the Israk and Mikraj of our beloved Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam from Kaabah, Baitullah in Makkah al Mukarramah to the Masjidil Al Aqsa in Baitulmaqdis.

We have all studied and learned from the Hadiths of our Rasulullah Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam about the manner by which the Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam was taken by Jibreel Alaihis Salam, the Archangel of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala through the Heavens to Allah's Presence.

The Night journey and the Ascension of Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallamhttp://www.sunna.info/Lessons/islam_365.html

Praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, the One Who exists without a place. To Him belong all the endowments and proper commendations.

May Allah raise the rank of Prophet Muhammad and his kind Al and Companions and protect his nation from what he fears for them.

May the Lord of Heavens and Earth grant us the sincere intentions and guide us to the acceptable deeds.

Thereafter, Allah sent the prophets as a mercy to the slaves and supported them with miracles to indicate the truthfulness of their message.

Of all the prophets, our Prophet, Muhammad ibni Abdullah Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam was the one blessed with the most miracles. Al-Isra' and al-Mi'raj are among the many miracles of Prophet Muhammad.

The miracle of al-Isra' is confirmed in the Qur'an. In Surat al-Isra' Chapter 17 Verse 1, Allahu Ta'ala reveals:
17:1
Transliteration
Subhana allathee asrabiAAabdihi laylan mina almasjidi alharami ilaalmasjidi al-aqsa allathee barakna hawlahulinuriyahu min ayatina innahu huwa assameeAAualbaseer
Sahih International
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al- Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.

This journey is also confirmed in the Sahih Hadith's. As such, there is scholarly consensus (ijma') that Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam journeyed both in body and soul on the night of al-Isra' from Masjid al-Haram in Makkah to Masjid al-Aqsa in Jerusalem. Moreover, these scholars indicated that the person who denies Al-Isra' is but a blasphemer for belying ! the expl icit text of the Qur'an.

Before the Prophet took this night journey, the ceiling of the house in which he was staying was opened, and Archangel Sayyidina Jibril Alaihis Salam descended.

He cut open the chest of Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam and washed that open area with Zamzam well water. Then he emptied something from a container into the chest of the Prophet to increase his wisdom as well as the strength of his belief. This was done to prepare the Greatest Messenger of Allah for that which he had yet to see in the upper world from among the wonders of the creation of Allahu Ta'ala.

Al-Isra'
After the Prophet performed the Evening Prayer (Isha'), Jibril came to him with a white animal, slightly larger than a donkey yet smaller than a mule. This animal was the Buraq, one of the creatures of Paradise.

Jibril held the Buraq by its ear and told the Prophet to mount it. When the Buraq was mounted, the Prophet set forth.

The Buraq is a very fast creature; the length of the Buraq's stride is the farthest distance that it's eye can see. The Prophet and Jibril arrived at a land with palm trees. Jibril told the Prophet to dismount and pray, so the Prophet dismounted the Buraq and prayed two raka'ats.

Jibril asked him, "Do you know where you prayed?" and the Prophet answered, "Allah knows best." Jibril told him, "This is Yathrib; this is Taybah. "." (These are two names for the city of al-Madinah.) Before the Prophet emigrated to al-Madinah, it was called Taybah and Yathrib. It earned the name al-Madinah after the Prophet emigrated to it.

The buraq continued with the Prophet and Jibril until they reached another place. Again Jibril told the Prophet to get down and pray. The Prophet dismounted there and prayed two raka'ats. Jibril informed the Prophet of the name of that place; it was Tur Sina'.

Once again the buraq took off with the Prophet and Jibril. Once again it stopped, and the Prophet dismounted and prayed two raka'ats. This was in Bayt Lahm, where Prophet Isa Alaihus Salam (Jesus) was born.

Then the buraq continued with the Messenger of Allah until they entered the city of Jerusalem. There the Prophet went to the Masjid al-Aqsa. Outside was! a ring used by the Messengers of Allah to tie their animals. The Prophet tied his buraq to this ring.

Then the Prophet entered the masjid where Allah had assembled for him all the Prophets–from Adam to Isa. Prophet Muhammad moved forward and led them all in prayer. This is an indication that the Prophet is higher in status than all the rest of the prophets and messengers.

1. On Prophet Muhammad's journey from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, Allah enabled him to see some of His wondrous creations. Allah enabled the Prophet to see the world (dunya) like an old woman. However, this old woman was wearing a great deal of jewelry, and in this there is an indication signifying the reality of the world.

2. Allah enabled the Prophet to see Iblis. The Prophet saw something on the side of the road which did not dare to stand in his way or speak to him. What the Prophet saw was Iblis. Originally, Iblis was a believer was known as Azazil. He was the Chief of the Jinn and lived with the angels in Paradise.

When Allah ordered the angels to prostrate (sujud) to Prophet Adam, Iblis was ordered to prostrate to him as well. The angels prostrated to Adam in obedience to Allah, because angels do not disobey Allah. However, Azazil did not obey, and he objected to the order of Allah.

He said, "You created me out of fire, and You created him out of clay. Why do You order me to prostrate to him? I worship only you and not any other creation!" So this objection by Azazil to the order of Allah was the first blasphemy he committed.* I have my own views on this. Will write about it later. Insya Allah.

3- On his journey, the Prophet smelled a very nice odor. He asked Jibril about this pleasant scent and Jibril informed him this good smell was coming from the grave of the woman whose duty used to be to comb Pharaoh's daughter's hair.

This woman was a good, pious believer. One day, as she was combing Pharaoh's daughter's hair, the comb fell from her hand. At this she said, "Bismillah." Pharaoh's daughter asked her, "Do you have a god other than my father?" The woman said, "Yes. My Lord and the Lord of your father is Allah."

Pharaoh's daughter told her father what had happened. Pharaoh demanded this woman blaspheme and leave Islam, but she refused. At that, Pharaoh threatened to kill her children. He brought a great pot of water and built a great fire under it.
When the water boiled, Pharaoh brought her children and started to drop them into that pot one after the other.

Throughout all this, the woman remained steadfast to Islam, even when Pharaoh reached her youngest child–a little boy still breast feeding–but she felt pity for him. At that instance, Allah enabled this child to speak.

He said to his mother, "O Mother, be patient. The torture of the Hereafter is far more severe than the torture of this life, and do not be reluctant, because you are right."

At this the woman requested Pharaoh collect her bones and the bones of her children and bury them in the same grave. Pharaoh promised her that–then dropped her into that boiling water. She died as a martyr. The good odor the Prophet smelled coming from her grave is an indication of her high status.

4. During his trip, the Prophet saw people who were planting and reaping in two days. Jibril told the Prophet, "These were the people who fight for the sake of Allah (mujahidun).

5- The Prophet also saw people whose lips and tongues were clipped with scissors made of fire. Jibril told the Prophet, "These are the speakers of sedition (fitna) who call people to misguidance."

6- He also saw a bull which exited from a very small outlet, then was trying in vain to return through that very small outlet. Jibril told the Prophet, "This is the example of the bad word–once spoken, it cannot be returned."
7- The Prophet also saw people grazing like animals, with very little clothing on their private parts.Jibril told the Prophet, "These are the ones who refused to pay zakat."

8- The Prophet saw angels smashing some people's heads with rocks. These heads would return to the shape they had been, and then the angels would smash their heads again–and so on. Jibril told the Prophet, "These are the ones whose heads felt too heavy to perform prayer–the ones who used to sleep without praying."

9- On his journey the Prophet saw people who were competing to eat some rotten meat–ignoring meat that was sliced and unspoiled. Jibril told the Prophet, "These are people from your n! ation wh o leave out that which is permissible (halal), and consume that which is forbidden ((haram). "This reference was to the fornicators, that is, the ones who left out the permissible (marriage) and committed sins (fornication).

10- Also, the Prophet saw people who were drinking from the fluid coming from the bodies of the fornicators, (water mixed with blood). Jibril indicated to the Prophet these were the ones who were drinking alcohol which is prohibited in this earthly world.

11- The Prophet saw people scratching their faces and chests with brass finger nails. Jibril said,"These are the examples of those who commit gossip (ghibah).

Al-Mi'raj
1- After the Prophet took this night journey from Masjid al-Haram to Masjid al-Aqsa, he ascended up to the upper heavens. The Prophet ascended to the heaven on stairs, called Al-Mirqat, in which one step is made of gold and the next of silver, and so on. These stairs are veiled from us.

The Prophet ascended these stairs until he reached the first heaven. When the Prop! het and Jibril arrived at the first heaven, Jibril requested the gate to be opened.

The angel assigned to that gate asked Jibril, "Who is with you?" Jibril answered, "It is Muhammad."

The angel asked Jibril, "Was he dispatched? Is it time for him to ascend to the heavens?" Jibril said, "Yes." So, the gate was opened for him, and Prophet Muhammad entered the first heaven.

There, Prophet Muhammad saw Prophet Adam. To Adam's right, the Prophet saw some bodies, and to Adam's left, other bodies.

If Adam would look to his right he would laugh, and if he would look to his left he would cry. Adam was seeing the souls of his descendants. Those on his right were his descendants who would die as believers and those on his left were his descendants who would die as non-believers.

Then the Prophet ascended to the second heaven. In this second heaven was where Prophet Muhammad saw Prophets Isa and Yahya. Isa and Yahya are cousins; their mothers were sisters. They welcomed the Prophet a! nd made supplication (du'a) for him for good things.

The Prophet ascended to the third heaven, where he found Prophet Yusuf Alaihis Salam. Prophet Yusuf was extremely handsome. Allah bestowed half the beauty on Yusuf. Yusuf received the Prophet with a warm welcome and made supplication (du'a') for him to be accorded the Hasanah of both the Earthly life and that of the Akhirah.

Then the Prophet ascended to the fourth heaven, where he found Prophet Idris Alaihis Salam. Prophet Idris welcomed the Prophet and made supplication (du'a') for him for good things.

In the fifth heaven, the Prophet encountered Prophet Harun Alaihis Salam, the brother of Prophet Musa Alaihis Salam.

In the sixth heaven, he encountered Prophet Musa!  Alaihis Salam. Each of these Prophets received Prophet Muhammad with a warm welcome and made supplication (du'a) for him for good things.

Then the Prophet ascended to the seventh heaven, and that is where our Messenger saw Prophet Ibrahim Alaihis Salam. Prophet Ibrahim is the best of the prophets after our prophet, Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam.

The Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam saw Prophet Ibrahim with his back against al-Bayt al-Ma'mur.

To the inhabitants of the skies, al-Bayt al-Ma'mur is like the Ka'bah is to us, the inhabitants of the earth.

Every day 70,000 angels go there; then exit from it, and never return. The next day another 70,000 angels go, come out, and never return. This will continue until the Day of Judgment. In this, there is an indication as to! the gre atness of the numbers of the angels–their numbers are far more than the numbers of the humans and the jinns together.

In the seventh heaven, Prophet Muhammad saw Sidrat al-Muntaha–a very big tree of sidr. Each of the fruits of this tree is as large as a big jar. The leaves of this tree are similar to the ears of the elephants. Sidrat al-Muntaha is an extremely beautiful tree. It is visited by butterflies made of gold. When these butterflies gather on this tree, its beauty is beyond description.

Then the Prophet ascended to what is beyond the seven skies; he entered Paradise. He saw examples of the inhabitants of Paradise and how their situation would be.

He saw that most of the inhabitants of Paradise are the poor.

The Prophet also saw many other things on the night of his ascension. He saw Malikthe angel in charge of the Hellfire. Malik did not smile at the Prophet when he saw him, and the Prophet asked why?

In answer to the Prophet's question, Jibril said, ! "Malik did not smile since the day Allah created him. Had he smiled for anyone, he would have smiled for you."

In Paradise, the Prophet saw some of the bounties Allah had prepared for the inhabitants of Paradise. He saw the Hurul-Ain: females Allah created who are not humans or jinn. They are in Paradise and will be married to those men Allah willed them to marry.

The Prophet saw the wildan ul-mukhalladun: creations of Allah who are not human, jinn, or angels. They are a very beautiful creation of Allah whose appearance is like laid-out pearls.

They are servants of the inhabitants of Paradise. The least in status of the People of Paradise will have 10,000 wildan ul-mukhalladun to serve him. Each one of them would carry a tray of gold in one hand and a tray of silver in the other hand.

The Prophet saw the Throne (Arash), which is the ceiling of Paradise. The Throne is the largest creation of Allah in size; Allah did not create anything bigger in size than it.

The seven heavens and the earth in comparison to the Kursi, are lik! e a ring thrown in a desert, and the Kursi in comparison to the Throne, is like a ring thrown in a desert.

The seven heavens and the earth in comparison to the Throne are like a seed of mustard compared to the ocean. Allah created the Throne as a sign of His Power and He did not create the Throne to sit on it.

Allah created the Throne to show His Power. It is carried by four angels, and on the Day of Judgmentit will be carried by eight.

The Prophet said he was permitted to speak about one of these angels who carry the Throne.

In describing this angel, the Prophet told us the distance between his ear lobe and shoulder is the distance a fast-flying bird would cover in 700 years.

Then the Prophet ascended beyond Paradise. He reached a place where he heard the creaking of the pens used by the angels who are copying from the Preserved Tablet.

It is at that location Prophet Muhammad heard the Kalam of Allah, which is an attribute of the Self of Allah. He heard the Kalam of Allah which does not resemble our speech–so it is not something that occurs bit after bit. It is not letter after letter or a word that comes after another word.

Rather, it is an attribute of Allah which is eternal and everlasting. It does not resemble our attributes. The Kalam of Allah has neither silence nor interruptions. It is an attribute of Allah, and it does not resemble the attributes of the creation.
The Prophet understood several things from hearing this Kalam of Allah.

He understood the obligation of the five Obligatory Prayers. At first, Allah obligated fifty prayers. When Prophet Muhammad encountered Musa, Musa told him to make supplication (du'a) to his Lord to ease the obligation of fifty (50) prayers, because his nation could not handle that.

Musa said, "I have experience with the people of Israel, and I know your nation cannot bear that."

So the Prophet returned to ask his Lord to lessen these prayers for his people. Five prayers were eliminated.!

Once again, Musa told the Prophet to ask Allah to lessen the number of prayers. Allah did.

Nine times the Prophet made supplication to Allah to lessen these prayers–until these prayers were lessened to five Obligatory Prayers.

So Prophet Musa was a great benefit to us. Had we been obligated to pray fifty prayers a day, this would have been a difficult matter for us.

From the Kalam of Allah, the Prophet also understood that a good deed would be written for the person who intends to do a good deed, even if he did not do it.

Also, the good deed performed would be registered for he who performs it as at least ten good deeds–up to 700 good deeds. For some people, Allah would multiply the reward of their deeds more than that.

Additionally, if one performs a bad deed, it is registered for him as one bad deed; yet for he who inclines towards committing a bad deed and t! hen refr ains from committing it, a good deed would be registered for him.
Here one should note the difference between two matters.

If a thought crossed a person's mind about doing something sinful, and this person wavered in this thinking, i.e., considered whether he should do it or not, then he refrained from doing this for the sake of Allah, this is written as a good deed.

However, if a person has the firm intention in his heart that he wants to commit a sin, it would be written for him as a sin, even if he does not do it.

The Prophet Returns to Makkah
After all these matters took place with the Prophet, he returned to the city of Makkah. Some scholars said the Prophet's journey took about one-third of the night, i.e., his journey from Makkah to Jerusalem, then to the heavens and what is above them, and then back to Makkah.

The next day the Prophet told the people what happened to him the previous night.

The blasphemers belied the Prophet and mocked him, saying, "We need a month to get there and back, and you are claiming to have done all this in one night?"

They said to Abu Bakr, "Look at what your companion is saying? He says he went to Jerusalem and came back in one night."

Abu Bakr told them, "If he said that, then he is truthful. I believe him concerning the news of the heavens–that an angel descends to him from the heavens. How could I not believe he went to Jerusalem and came back in a short period of time–when these are on earth?"

After that, the Companion, Sayyidina Abu Bakr, was called "as-Siddiq"–because of how strongly he believed all what the Prophet said.

The blasphemous people questioned the Prophet: "If you are truthful, then describe to us Masjid al-Aqsa and its surroundings."

They asked this because they knew Prophet Muhammad had never been there before the previous night.

Allah enabled the Messenger to see Masjid al-Aqsa, and he described the masjid and its surroundings in exact detail.

Moreover, the Prophet said, "On my way back, I saw some of your shepherds grazing their animals in a particular location. They were searching for a camel they had lost."

The Prophet continued by giving the description of the camel. When these shepherds came back, they told their people what happened to them–precisely as the Prophet had already told them.

These blasphemers admitted the Prophet's description was exact.

Despite that, they were still stubborn and rejected the faith. They did not accept Islam.

Only those whom Allah willed to be guided, will be guided. The person whom Allah did not will to be guided, will not believe–regardless of how much explanation or how many proofs he is shown.
The person whom Allah willed to be guided, surely he will be a believer. Many people witnessed miracles and still did not believe.

Many people witnessed the miracle of the Prophet's splitting of the moon. Those who refused to embrace Islam said, "This is magic. Muhammad played a magic trick on our eyes."

They even asked the people of a faraway land who witnessed the moon split in two. Despite this, they still did not believe.

They said, "The magic of Muhammad is powerful; it even reached the faraway lands!"

This was their response to witnessing a miracle–instead of believing and becoming Muslims.

We ask Allah that we would all die as Muslims. We ask Allah to bestow on us the bounty of entering Paradise without torture.

And Allah knows best.

Now, all these while, no one has been speaking about the first thing that Rasulullah Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam did upon being in the Presence of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in the Arash above Jannatul Firdaus, the 7th Heaven @ Paradise.

Upon witnessing the beauty and greatness of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, the very first words coming out of Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam, was "At-tahiyyatul-mubrakatus-salawatut-tayyibatu-Lillah" meaning,' All greetings that are blessed and all prayers that are good are due to Allah!

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala then saluted His Beloved Prophet with,"As-salamu 'alaika ayyuhan Nabiyyu Wa Rahmatullahi Wabarakatuh!" meaning ' Peace be upon you, O Prophet and the Mercy and Blessings of Allah!'

The Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam responded with , "As-salamu alayna wa 'ala ibadillah his salihin" meaning ' Peace be upon us, and upon all righteous ser! vants of Allah!' sharing the Blessings of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala with all righteous Muslims.

The Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam then raised his forefinger and testified " Ash hadu alla ilaha ill Allah!" meaning 'I bear witness that there is no god other than Allah!'

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala replied ," Wa ash hadu anna Muhammad Rasul Allah!" meaning ' I bear witness that (you) Muhammad is Allah's Messenger.

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala then blesses the Prophet Muhammad with His Salawat "Allahumma salli ala Muhammadiw wa 'ala alihi Muhammad" meaning ' Allah blesses Muhammad and the family of Muhammad!'

The Prophet Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam responds by honoring the Prophet Ibrahim and his family members (the Prophet's forefathers -going back to the Prophet Ismail Alaihis Salam who is the first born of Prophet Ibrahim with his ! second w ife Siti Hajar) 'Kama sallayta 'ala Ibrahim wa 'ala alihi 'Ibrahim' meaning 'As You have bestowed Your Grace upon Ibrahim and upon his family!'

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala blesses the Prophet Muhammad again with ' Wabarik 'ala Muhammad wa 'ala alihi Muhammad!' meaning ' Blessings upon Muhammad and family of Muhammad'.

The Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam then praises the Prophet Ibrahim and members of his family with 'Kama barakta 'ala Ibrahim wa 'ala alihi Ibrahim!' meaning ' As You have blessed Ibrahim and his family!'.

The Prophet Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam caps it off with saluting Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala with ' Fil Alamina Innaka Hamidum Majid' meaning ' Truly in all the worlds, You are the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Glorious!'
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That my dear fellow Muslims is the significance of our reciting the Attahiyyat as the closing part of our solats.
We are re-enacting the Ascension of our Nabiyyil Karim Muhammad al Mustafa Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam to the Seven Heavens and then being granted Permission by Allah to be in His Glorious Presence.
Try visualising the experience of Rasulullah Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam meeting Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and imagine the impact of that meeting which we Muslims, billions of us repeat glorifying Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and His Messenger Muhammad Sallalahu Alaihi Wassallam during our each solat whether it's the fardhu solat or the sunnat prayers.
The solat is not only a manifestation of the importance of our spiritual ascension to the Presence of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and in our understanding of our faith which is both a body and soul experience for us.
Insya Allah, I will share more about our faith as Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala permits me.
